Ray Wilkins is a curious sort. The former footballer won the Premier League as assistant to Carlo Ancelotti but since he has retired into football analysis, where he's been much maligned by football fans.

Speaking on Talksport Wilkins gave his opinion on Manchester United's chances of progressing against Sevilla in the Champions League. His summation of the Spanish side was as harsh as it was questionable:

I think it's tricky Quinny but I think there's anything that should stand in their way. Sevilla where would they be in the Premier League? The bottom six? I don't think Manchester United will have many problems.

The bottom six?! Sevilla currently sit fifth in La Liga six points behind Real Madrid. The Spanish side drew twice with Liverpool in the group and consistently win the Europa League... but the former Chelsea assisstant reckons Brighton, West Ham and Newcastle would be ahead of them. Unbelievable.

Though we shouldn't be too surprised with Ray, this is the man who has come out with such gems as "unfortunately, we keep kicking ourselves in the foot" and "the gelling period has started to knit".

Predictably his analysis was met with short shrift by many football fans on Twitter:
