Former Liverpool and Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles was today banned for 11 games for spitting at a referee in Fenerbache's recent derby defeat to rivals Galatasaray.

But when you see if from the opposite angle, it is quite unclear if he actually did spit at the ref or not:

Having also been accused of making a homophobic gesture to the ref, here's what Meireles had to say about the incident as a whole live on Turkish television:

This case is by no means finished yet as the Portuguese international seems intent on clearing his name of this shameful act.
