There have been cases in the past of English football people going abroad and behaving strangely, mainly Steve McClaren who started speaking in a Dutch accent. Joey Barton has started speaking with a French twang in his voice. Maybe he is just trying to make the French journalists understand him better. In fairness the accent is half the battle when learning French and he seems to have that down.
