Drawing 1-1 with Austria as the clock ticked towards full time, Iceland were looking like heading through to the last-16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
Then, thanks to Arnor Ingvi Traustason, the Iceland miracle got even better.
The final two games of Group F, Iceland vs Austria and Hungary vs Portugal, were unexpectedly two of the most exciting games in the tournament so far.
After taking an 18th minute lead through Bodvarsson, Iceland's lead was negated by Schopf on 60 minutes,
Then, in injury time, Traustason, slid in to send the smallest country at the tournament into raptures and the team into the next round as second place finishers in Group F.
The Icelandic commentary certainly reflected the feelings of a nation.
