We learned a lot from Claudio Ranieri's appearance on Monday Night Football last night. It was an performance to match his popular persona, refusing to blame the players for his sacking, and ultimately taking it all with good will.
One of the more interesting moments of his interview though was his expressed desire to respond to each of every one of good luck and thank you cards he has received from grateful Leicester fans since he was sacked.
When we won the title, I received some champagne, wine, some cards. But this time, my house was full. I want to say thank you to everybody because for me it's difficult now to sign all of the cards that have arrived. As that is the case, I can say "Thank you, thank you to all my fans"
It's a laudable sentiment from Ranieri, but ultimately he's given up. Offering a thank you to his fans through the medium of Sky Sports is not a personal "thank you" and he so clearly wishes to offer. He's clearly taken the easy way out here.
The Italian needs to take a leaf out of Ringo Starr's book. It has long been chronicled he has spent his entire post-Beatles life responding to fanmail, determined to get through them all, and offer individual replies.

You can do better than that Claudio.
