Less than a week after the victims of the Hillsborough disaster were found to have been 'unlawfully killed', the victims of British football's second most lethal football disaster have been mocked by sectarian graffiti on the wall of the venue where it occurred.

Rangers employees were out today trying to clean the walls after the message 'HAHA 66' was daubed on the wall outside the ground.

The message refers to the 66 Rangers supporters that were killed in a crush at an Old Firm game in 1971.

After Celtic scored a 90th-minute goal, many Rangers fans made for the exits. It is believed that someone tripped on the way down Stairway 13 causing a chain reaction pile-up of bodies. 66 were killed and another 200 were injured.

A Rangers spokesman said the police have been made aware of the incident.

The club is disgusted and disappointed that individuals would tarnish the memory of the 66 football fans who lost their lives in the Ibrox Disaster.

This incident has been reported to Police Scotland and the offending material has been removed.
