As Steven Gerrard prepared Rangers for a Europa League tie against Osijek in Glasgow tonight, a mass brawl broke out in the streets surrounding Ibrox.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg in Croatia, tonight's tie has been marred by scenes of senseless violence.

Although it is unclear what has instigated such behaviour from a significant number of people, or who in fact these people are, footage released on social media detailed the madness that ensued.

Demonstrating particular acts of violence on one vulnerable man lying on the floor, there is as yet no idea why such scenes have broken out before the Rangers game.

The police arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, yet, with the sheer number of people in the surrounding area,  it was not entirely surprising that they themselves were outnumbered initially.

At this moment in time, there is no clear indication as to what pre-empted such disturbing scenes.

According to Scotland's Daily Record, a spokesperson for Police Scotland only had the following to say for now: "There is an on-going incident at Ibrox and police are in attendance."
