Raheem Sterling's agent insists that his client should still be at Liverpool, playing a full part in the Jurgen Klopp adventure.
Aidy Ward told the Daily Mail he blames Rodgers for Sterling's departure. What's more, he said half the Liverpool squad didn't rate Rodgers as a manager.
He had a massive job with massive funds. How did he do? Good coach, but as a manager I didn’t like certain things about how he dealt with Raheem.
Fifty per cent of the players would probably tell you Brendan is not a good manager, but he is a good coach.
Ward's gripe was that Rodgers wasn't honest with the media about the difficulties over Sterling's new contract.
Ward wanted a buy-out clause inserted into the contract, a measure he insisted was common practice. Liverpool refused to allow this. However, Ward's annoyance was really exacerbated by Rodgers blithely telling everyone that Sterling would sign a new contract.
In press conferences, Brendan told everyone Raheem would sign — why do that?
I knew, Brendan knew and Liverpool knew there was an issue. Right now he probably should be a Liverpool player, but he’s not and he’s in a great place at City.
Despite insisting upon Sterling's contentedness at City, Ward lamented that his boy was not getting the chance to work with Liverpool's 'passionate' new manager.
'It could have been a dream come true', he said.
