The Raheem Sterling to Man City transfer saga was a lot more drawn out and far more bitter than anyone involved would have wanted once it became apparent that the England international wanted out of Anfield.
Liverpool fans were already very unhappy with Sterling after he left the club in the manner he did, but if they thought he would just put his head down and get on with it after making the move, it appears as though they were wrong as he has said some less than flattering things during a recent interview with fellow new signing Fabian Delph ahead of the new Premier League season.
Speaking to the Manchester City supporters club, Sterling said:
The decision was easy when I first knew [about City's interest].
With the players they’ve got here, it’s just a really attractive place to be. I’m happy I made that decision.
Sterling then went on to talk up his new teammates and suggests he wants to add more end product to his game as he to pulls on the baby-blue of Manchester City:
It’s been a good pre-season so far. Obviously some of the results haven’t gone our way but there are some great players here. I’m really looking forward to linking up with them in the coming season. I’m trying to add more goals and creativity to my game. I’m trying to gets my assist numbers and goals up.
Claiming that the decision to leave Liverpool was easy is not something that will go down well with the Kop, and you can expect a rather hostile reception when he returns to play at Anfield with his new club.
