Liverpool's players' awards night is being held at the Echo Arena this evening. Wantaway forward Raheem Sterling won the Young Player of the Year award and chose to keep his acceptance speech brief.

According to the Liverpool Echo Sterling said "I’d just like to say thank you to all my team-mates" before being interrupted by shouts of "stay Raheem" from the crowd. The player quickly exited the stage to boos from 3,000 gathered fans. According to the Guardian, there were further boos when Sterling appeared in a video montage.

Philippe Coutinho picked up the Players' Player of the Year award.
