Rafa Benitez is reportedly set to leave Newcastle United this summer unless the club cave and make two signings in the January transfer window.
The Premier League club currently sit in 17th place, just two points clear of the relegation zone. Per the Telegraph, the ongoing situation has finally reached a tipping point with the Spaniard set to reject any contract offer unless they make two signings.
The club have been linked with Atlanta United forward Miguel Almiron and were reported to have offered £16million. However, this is £7million shy of the sum Atlanta president Darren Eales has said he is looking for.
The Magpies have not broken their transfer record since 2005 when they 16.5m paid for Michael Owen. Owner Mike Ashley did return to St James' Park for the first time since November and watched the club beat Cardiff City 3-0. He was reported to have met Benetiz after that game.
At that match, Newcastle fans made it clear they are backing their manager in the dispute.
