The Champions League and World Cup are probably the two most prestigious competitions in footballer. If you ask any professional player what tournaments they would most like to win, odds are those two will be right at the top of the list.
Quite a number of players have managed to win both down through the years, although doing so in the same year remains a very rare feat. With the World Cup only taking place every four years, it is very difficult to win the two within the space of a few months.
In fact, since the European Cup was rebranded as the Champions League in 1992, only four players have managed it.
Prior to that, the seven men who were part of the Bayern Munich and Germany teams in 1974 were the only players that had won both in the same year.
