Nostalgia for the teletext era is a foible of those born in the 1970s and 80s. It was the first port of call for news and all of us can remember watching a major sporting event live on teletext. As late as 2006, because of poor broadband and a lack of Sky Sports, I watched the final stages of the dramatic US Open via this mechanism. One second I was full sure that Montgomorie had it and then in the blink of an eye learned that he had double-bogeyed and Ogilvy was the champion.
