Really hard one today.
A conversation in the office about a certain hat-trick in Dalymount Park in 1974, for which none of us were alive, led us wondering just how many hat-tricks have been scored for Ireland (the men's senior team specifically). The answer is not many.
Just 12 in fact, in nearly 100 years of international football. And of those 12, there have been three multiple hat-trick scorers, meaning just eight players have done the deed for Ireland. All three scored in the 21st century, for example, have been by the same player (obvious spoiler!).
We think you shoould be able to get the multiple scorers, and have a fair chance with the two other relatively modern ones in there too. There are three from the old days though that only Irish football anoraks are going to know.
If you are one of those anoraks who achieve full marks, please let us know. For the rest of you, we've given you five minutes, and expect a score of at least 7/12.
Enjoy!
