It's widely assumed that Kylian Mbappe will move on from PSG in the next couple of years. The 21-year old has been in all-conquering in his homeland ever since establishing himself in the first team at Monaco, winning the league every year so far in his young career.
Add a World Cup medal to that tally and you have a CV that few players in the history of the game could match at his age. The Frenchman seems set to inherit the mantle this will soon be vacated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with PSG desperate to hang onto their prized asset.
Real Madrid have long coveted the forward, while Liverpool have also been linked with an unlikely move for the player. However, PSG are hoping a huge financial offer will convince him to stay in the French capital.
AS are reporting that Mbappe is set to be offered a new contract, one that will earn him the eye-watering sum of €50million per year after tax. That's almost €1million a week. Grand if you can get it.
Real Madrid have been hoping that the player would enter the final year of his contract in the summer of 2021, allowing them to get him for a lower price than PSG would otherwise accept. That may still be the case, but a financial offer of this size may make the player think twice about leaving.
Mbappe will earn a ridiculous amount of money no matter where he ends up. Real Madrid could likely put together a similar financial package.
PSG's aim will be to win the Champions League over the next two seasons, with both Neymar and Mbappe likely to leave in the not too distant future. With Edinson Cavani also moving on, and the likes of Thiago Silva and Angel Di Maria getting up there in age, the cycle of this current crop of players could quickly be coming to an end.
