This news will be tough to take for any fans of the Pro Evolution Soccer series.
It seems that Adriano's fall from grace could reach a new low, from the heights of the greatest virtual-footballer of all-time, to a possible prison sentence.
Just last month we brought you the promising news that Adriano was attempting a come-back to European football with French Ligue 2 side Le Harve, but those plans are now on hold as Adriano has been charged in connection to drug trafficking in Rio De Janiero.
Prosecutors have said that Adriano bought a motorcycle in 2008 and registered it in the name of the mother of known drug trafficker Paulo Rogerio de Souza Paz, and this vehicle was then used for the trafficking of drugs in one of Rio's favelas which was controlled by a Brazilian gang who go by the name of Comando Vermelho or "Red Command".
The allegations first appeared in 2010, and although Adriano denied them at the time, he has now been charged and a judge will decide whether or not to accept the charges made against the former Inter Milan striker. A warrant for his arrest has not yet been issued, but Adriano has been asked to surrender his passport, and if convicted he could face up to 15 years in jail.
We'll keep you updated on this as we hear more.
