A Preston fan has made an emotional apology after it emerged that she had lied about a terminal cancer diagnosis, saying it was her dying wish to see Preston promoted to the Championship. Linda Moon received a number of gifts from the club and the players ahead of the League 1 play off final and fans even organised a minute's applause during the match in support of Linda.
However, it has now transpired that Moon's diagnosis is actually a lie, something which has not gone down well. Preston striker Kevin Davies one of many to condemn Moon's actions.
Lost both my parents to cancer within 3 months of each other so it saddens me to hear how low people can stoop for their own gain

The original 'heart-warming' story went so far that an ITV news crew even went to Moon's house to film her with the Play-Off final trophy. However, rumours started to circulate that things may not have been what they seemed.
Moon, who does suffer from a condition known as Vascular Ehlers disease, spoke to Rock FM about what had happened to lead to the continued lie.
When my condition came out, it came out as cancer, and it all just spiralled out of control. I have Vascular Ehlers disease which affects your blood and collagen which is what makes my stomach swell and haemorrahage.
I should have corrected people but it had gone too far and I couldn't get myself out of it. I thought I should set the record straight but I never did it - I feel horrible for what I have done.
All I can do is sincerely apologise from the bottom of my heart - it's not a nice thing to do to people. I have seen things that people have said about me, but I understand why they are saying it. I have hurt and upset a lot of people.
I would just like to say I am truly sorry for not saying it is not terminal cancer.
