Our hearts go out to an Australian Aston Villa fan who flew for 25 hours to see his team get absolutely embarrassed in a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
The performance was the low point in a truly miserable season for Villa, and Jamie Carragher perfectly summed up the feelings of those who saw the match as he tore the squad apart in his post-match analysis, but after the official Aston Villa twitter account tweeted to the Australian fan wishing him well before the game, supporters of the club are now asking that the man be refunded.
The fan tweeted his excitement ahead of the game, hoping that the display would justify the 25 hour journey:

And the Villa account was quick to wish him well with a very unfortunate tweet in hindsight:

It certainly will be a trip to remember, but not for the right reasons.
Now, this is not the fault of Aston Villa's social media team, and is entirely that Aussie fan's decision to make the trip knowing full well that it was probably going to end in disaster judging by recent performances, but many are now calling for the club to refund the man after just how pathetic the Villa performance was.

We suspect that the club will do something to sort Steve out, as that's just how social media works now, so we will keep you updated if they do get back in touch.
Anyone who has ever travelled to support their team, only to see them lose, will know how disappointing it can be, but imagine facing a 25 hour flight home to reflect on it?
