Japan became the latest nation to have a Premier League winner with Shinji Kagawa being part of the Man Utd squad this season. The Premier League produced a handy infographic illustrating all the Premier League winning nationalities to go with this news.
Reader, Brian Quinn, spotted a possible flaw in the stats in relation to the stated number of players from the Republic who have won the Premier League. It says that only four have won it.
Those four are certainly, Denis Irwin, Roy Keane, Damien Duff and John O'Shea. There should surely be two others though, Darron Gibson for Man Utd and Jeff Kenna for Blackburn.
The graphic states that there have been three winners from Northern Ireland. Jonny Evans and Roy Carroll are the only two from the North that we can think of, so is it possible that Darron Gibson is being included as Northern Irish when he is a Republic of Ireland international?
Also, Jeff Kenna only played 9 games for Blackburn when they won the Premier League in the 1994/1995 season but apparently does have a Premier League medal.
We'll be in touch with the Premier League about this super important matter.
