Among all Irish players last season, there is no doubt that Sammie Szmodics' form at Blackburn Rovers was one of the feel-good stories of the campaign.
The 28-year old has been a solid operator for a number of seasons, making his name at Colchester United and Peterborough United in the lower leagues before earning a move to Ewood Park in 2022.
While he had performed well after his switch to Blackburn, not many people would have predicted just how impactful he would be last season. Szmodics would score 33 goals in all competitions, leading the scoring charts in both the Championship and FA Cup.
That form has understandably piqued the interest of a number of other clubs. The likes of Luton Town, Brentford, and Galatasaray have been linked with his services in recent times.
With clubs now returning for pre-season, we may be getting a clearer idea of where his future may lie.

EPL Sides Interested In Sammie Szmodics As Blackburn Set Asking Price
The Sun are reporting that Blackburn Rovers are keen to offer Sammie Szmodics a new deal to keep him at the club. However, should he turn that down, they would sanction his sale this summer were an offer of £15-20million to arrive.
It is also suggested that Everton have registered their interest in the Ireland star, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin likely to move on this summer. Premier League new boys Ipswich Town are another side that are closely monitoring the situation.
Sammie Szmodics will certainly have no shortage of suitors this summer, and considering Blackburn's struggles last season, he cannot afford to turn down the opportunity to move to the Premier League should the chance arise.
The forward made his international debut back in March, and despite only making a handful of friendly appearances, he already looks likely to be an important player for Ireland moving forward.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer.
