For your average football viewer it's acceptable not to recognise the difference between two Arsenal benchwarmers. But what if you're supposedly a Premier League expert like Match of the Day analyst, Mark Lawrenson?
Lawro made an appearance on BBC sports quiz show, 'A Question of Sport' last night. During a part of the quiz where panelists had to identify various sports stars from a video montage, a clip of Marouance Chamakh scoring for Arsenal during their Capital One Cup win over Reading was shown. When asked who had scored the goal, Mark Lawrenson replied, "Gervinho". The question was passed onto the other team where former England cricketer Phil Tufnell had no trouble answering.
If Chamakh and Gervinho were two individuals who resembled each other then you simply pass it off as a case of mistaken identity. They really don't look anything alike though.
So then it comes down to one thing, a pure lack of football knowledge from Mark Lawrenson.
