Looking at the exploits of Ireland players this season, it was encouraging to see a number of our emerging stars put together strong campaigns at club level.
The likes of Nathan Collins, Dara O'Shea, Caoimhín Kelleher, Festy Ebosele, and Jake O'Brien all won plaudits at various points of the season for their exploits with their clubs. All of that group are aged 25 or younger, with O'Brien the only uncapped player of the bunch.
Another potential future Ireland international also impressed with his performances, even if his campaign was curtailed by injury.
Kasey McAteer has not featured for Ireland at any level, although it has been suggested that the 22-year old recently went through the process of switching his international allegiances to the Boys in Green.
The winger has enjoyed breakthrough season at Leicester City. He would make 23 appearances for the club during their victorious Championship campaign, scoring six goals along the way.

Those numbers would have been even more impressive were it not for a couple of injuries, with his displays catching the eye of a number of clubs in recent times.

Premier League clubs lining up to sign Ireland hopeful this summer
Football Insider are reporting that Newcastle United, Everton, and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing Kasey McAteer this summer.
Despite their promotion to the Premier League, Leicester City are likely to be under some considerable financial pressure over the coming months. The club have been charged with breaching profit and sustainability rules and could immediately be hit with a points deduction on their return to the top flight.
A number of player sales will be required to balance the books this summer, with academy product McAteer among their most saleable assets.
Crystal Palace are likely to be in the market for a new winger amid interest in both Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze. Newcastle could be forced to sell one of their most prized assets this summer due to FFP concerns, meaning a move for a lower priced player such as McAteer could be considered. As for Everton, any potential deal would likely depend on the asking price involved.
Despite his international switch first being mooted back in October, Kasey McAteer has yet to be called up by Ireland. Injuries ruled him out of both the November and March international windows, although many expect that he will be called up for next month's games against Hungary and France.
