Are this year's pre season games a touch more exciting, or does it just feel that way because we are in the moment?

It certainly seems as though the hype surrounding pre season this year is greater than usual, with a host of top talent switching sides during the summer transfer window.

Last night saw high-profile signings Erling Haaland, Gabriel Jesus, and Raphinha, all get on the scoresheet for their clubs.

This of course follows on from the four goal performance of Darwin Nunez for Liverpool against RB Leipzig, last Thursday.

Erling Haaland's move to Manchester City brought with it the most fanfare, and the £51 million Norwegian opened his account for City after just 12 minutes.

Man City's win over Bayern Munich ended a run of seven losses for Haaland against the German champions, as he looks to add to City's fine record of Bundesliga imports.

"As you probably all know I have been watching a lot of City games for the last years and last year has been without a striker so of course I've been seeing myself in this kind of situations today," said Haaland after the game.

Arsenal nabbed a big 4-0 win over Premier League rivals Chelsea, with new striker Gabriel Jesus scoring after just 15 minutes with a classy chip over Edouard Mendy.

It is the earliest of days, but his performance bodes well for Arsenal, who have been in desperate need of a world-class finisher since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Barcelona beat out Arsenal for the signature of Leeds winger Raphinha, and the Brazilian gave the Gunners a bitter taste of what they were missing with a screamer in Barca's pre season El Classico derby against Real Madrid.

Raphinha latched onto a misplaced pass, and took one touch before lashing a shot into the top corner from about 25 yards out.
