This isn't some kind of Ronnie O'Brien style hack - this is real. Let's vote for the one and only Podge Amond and get him into the official FA Cup team of the decade.
The former Shamrock and Sligo Rovers striker has been named on a shortlist for one of the forward spots along with Raul Jimenez, Raheem Sterling and Alexis Sanchez, and so far he's in with a great shot of nailing the place on the team.
And he deserves it.
Nobody could possibly have done more in the FA Cup over the last number of years. Last season, Newport County went on an improbable cup run that ended with a defeat to Manchester City. Amond scored their goal in a 4-1 defeat to the eventual champions, earning a special chat from Pep Guardiola. It left him on five FA Cup goals in last season's competition, which made him joint top scorer, only joined by Gabriel Jesus with a controversial goal in the final, which Amond say he was sure belonged to Raheem Sterling. He also scored against Leicester City and Middlesbrough last year.
In 2018, Amond's first season with Newport, he also scored in an incredible 1-1 draw with Spurs. Back in 2016, he grabbed two for Grimbsy in the early rounds of the competition, while this season, he's grabbed three in three as Newport once again qualified for the third round proper, where they will face Milwall on Saturday. It's a record that meansAmond has now scored in the last eight rounds of the competition he's played in.
You can vote for the 31 year old Carlow native here to get him his deserved place on this team of the decade.
