It was a night of monumental importance for Irish football.
Faced with a difficult trip to Copenhagen, initial hopes that Ireland could at least ensure Tuesday's return leg would be competitive were largely satisfied.
Naturally, given the stature of tonight's game, anyone and everyone who could see, wanted to see it.
Around the world, all sorts of people keen to keep a close eye on Ireland's progress were going to whatever means necessary.
From golfers to rugby players, comedians to boxers, everyone was getting in on the act.
In Sun City, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington and Paul Dunne had strength in numbers - even if Harrington doesn't look that pleased to be there.
Seemingly on his own, boxer Jay Quigley wasn't to be deterred from enjoying himself.
On a big Saturday for Irish rugby too, it seemed that a record-breaking win over South Africa didn't last too long in their mind.
They too were keen to see how things developed in Copenhagen.
Nice to see @IrishRugby players showing support for @FAIreland as they watch the action from Copenhagen on the @AVIVAStadium pitch. pic.twitter.com/ZMQ9I2COOs

Although life was going on as normal in some walks of life, everybody seemed to have a contingency plan in place to ensure the best of both worlds.
People coming to Vicar st tonight! Yes, the match will be on in the bar, and we may jiggle the length of the first half (of the show) a little so we can all enjoy the last 25 mins (of the match) too. #coybig
