Schalke 04 have tweeted a picture of the newly-revamped players' tunnel at the Veltins-Arena and if you think it looks more suited to a mine shaft than a Mannschaft, you'd be right.
The look is the latest nod from the club to the traditional industry of the northern Ruhr area. Nicknamed 'The Miners', Schalke take these links seriously and have previously posed for their team photo in a coal mine, while more low-profile visits have been made by star players as a thank-you to their fans in the mining community.
