The Telegraph dug up this great photo of Mesut Ozil and Manuel Neuer together in their school team years ago in Schalke (front left and second left). Neuer got the better of his former classmate last night when he kept out what was a frankly dreadful penalty, and in an interview after the match, the German no.1 revealed how he knew exactly what Ozil was planning to do.
He was speaking in German so you'll have to forgive myself and Google translate if it's not correct word for word...
Sure I know Mesut. I know how he takes penalties. I know how it starts, and that he takes his time. He is also one that can swing out at the last moment. If he takes a penalty, you have to wait long as a goalkeeper. I thought that he usually shoots in the left corner, so I made ??the move there. But I waited a long time to have the option to intervene in the middle. It worked.
With the important stuff out of the way, we now need to discuss what the hell was going on with the middle kid in the back row's pants!?
