Sunderland are turning to another Dutch legend after Dick Advocaat informed Sunderland chairman Ellis Short that he wouldn't be staying with the North East club after he guided them to Premier League survival.
According to the Sunday Times, Sunderland have turned their attention to PSV Eindhoven coach Phillip Cocu. The 101 times capped Cocu has been in charge of PSC for two years, and just lead them to the Dutch Eredivise this year, ending a four year Ajax monopoly on the Dutch league.
The former Barcelona star has emerged as the favourite amongst Sunderland's leading figures say the Sunday Times.
Cocu has replaced Advocaat once before, after taking over from him at PSV Eindhoven, while Cocu also has coaching experience with the Dutch national team.
According to the Sunday Times, Sunderland are prepared to offer Cocu significant wages and funds to entice the Dutch legend to the North-East.
