Every insomniac's favourite co-commentator Phil Neville could be facing the chop at BBC after he bored the pants off almost every single person who tuned in to England vs Italy on Saturday night, that is according to The Telegraph who speculate that should England progress from the group stage of the World Cup, Neville may not be kept on in his current role.
Neville, who was number two to David Moyes during Manchester United's abysmal Premier League campaign last season, felt the wrath of twitter during and after the game, as viewers complained in their thousands about his monotone voice and inane observations.
The official word out of BBC is that Phil Neville remains an "important" and "well respected" member of their team, but there will no doubt be questions asked of whether this role really suits him. The former Man United and Everton full-back took to twitter himself to respond to the backlash, clearly his skin has thickened after a disaster of a year on the Manchester United coaching staff, where it was rumoured that his nickname among players was "**** off Phil".

We now eagerly await to see if Phil Neville decides to go with an over-the-top exciting method of co-commentary for his next assignment, however unlikely that may be.
