Alvaro Pereira took an awful blow to the head in a collision with Raheem Sterling's knee last night.
Pereira can then be seen arguing with the Uruguayan team doctors who clearly want him to be substituted off the pitch.
Pereira overruled the doctor and returned to play the rest of the match however there was an outcry on Twitter about Fifa and their concussion protocols.
How in the bluest if blue fucks has he not been subbed? Grossly irresponsible, clearly got knocked the fuck out.

I'm actually just flabbergasted at the total lack of awareness of the dangers of concussion. Players should never overrule a medic. Ever. — Sarah Mulkerrins (@SarahMulkerrins) June 19, 2014
Much more fuss made of a WC played in the heat of Qatar but playing with a traumatic brain injury should be banned. #Pereira #playerwelfare

Hate seeing doctors overruled with Pereira coming back on. World soccer clueless on concussions. — Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl) June 19, 2014

Re the Pereira concussion: player did what you would expect by trying to stay on, doc did his job correctly, manager let both men down. — Eoin McDevitt (@EoinMcDevitt) June 19, 2014
Uruguay defender Pereira knocked unconscious but allowed to play on. Lloris all over again. When will football get this?? #concussion

Can't believe Pereira is coming back on after that bang. Sport generally has to get concussion issue sorted out. — Paddy McKenna (@PaddyMcKenna) June 19, 2014
Pereira’s all over the place - no way he should be back on.

The incident even got a mention in the RTÉ studio with Eamon Dunphy citing Pereira returning to the pitch as an example of Uruguay's Hunger and desire to win.
Pereira has apparently since apologised to the team doctor for overruling and playing on.
