Manchester City look to have won the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, with the club activating the €75 million release clause according to reports in the British media today.
Haaland has become one of the best players in the world since his move to Borussia Dortmund, scoring 82 goals in 85 games since his move in January 2020.
Wanted by clubs all over Europe, Guardiola’s side looks to be his preferred destination. It’s reported that Erling Haaland will become the highest paid player in the Premier League, earning reported wages of £500,000 per week.

Manchester City failed to sign a striker to replace record goal scorer Sergio Aguero when he left after the 2021/2022 season.
This has led to Guardiola’s side often playing without a recognised striker, with midfielder Kevin De Bruyne their top goal scorer in the Premier League this season with 11 goals.
The club attempted to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane last summer but failed to agree a transfer. Despite a difficult start to the season, Kane has hit form in recent weeks under Conte, leaving City to wonder what could have been.

The transfer of Haaland could be the major transfer story of the summer, with the 21-year-old seen as a generational talent.
Despite injuries this season, the Norwegian striker has scored 25 goals in 26 games to guide Dortmund to second place in the Bundesliga.
With Haaland set to join a side containing De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish, it’s impossible to see how Haaland won't add to those numbers with that kind of quality service.
However, speaking earlier today, Guardiola refused to comment on the potential transfer.
"I have enough concern and business in my head right now to think about what's going to happen in this club next season."

The transfer of Haaland to City could also have a huge knock on affect across European football, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich also interested.
If he decides to join City, this could pave the way for Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid, with the French striker heavily linked to the club.
