Paul Scholes has bitten back after Manchester United star Antony hit out at pundits who have criticised his performances for the club this season.
Signed for over €90 million from Ajax last summer, Antony has struggled to make a meaningful impact on the pitch, despite popping up with some big goals early in his time in Manchester.
With the team's performances under the spotlight yet again and an early Champions League exit impending, Antony has hit out at some of the pundits who have criticised his showings this season.
Those comments have not gone down well with Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, who bit back on social media when the quotes from Antony were published on Tuesday.

Paul Scholes bites back after questionable Antony comments
In an exclusive interview with the United Stand on Wednesday, Manchester United winger Antony said that he could not understand why certain club legends called him out for his performances when they do not know him personally, and questioned how those pundits would have done in the same circumstances:
Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometiems even when I do not play.
But I've never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional. None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through. The "digital court" is ruining live; contexts are left aside, and the truth no longer matters.
I would like to know how these people who make these unfair and malicious criticisms fared in my place.
The "turbulence" Antony refers to is most likely the allegations of domestic violence which saw him take a leave of absence from the team earlier this season.
At the time of the interview, Antony has only started six times in the Premier League this season, without a single goal contribution in any competition - perhaps explaining why he has been at the end of footballing criticism this season.
Among the littany of Manchester United's "former club players" on punditry duty in the UK is Paul Scholes - and he took exception to Antony's comments with an Instagram story on Wednesday evening.
Scholes shared a screenshot of a report detailing Antony's comments with the caption, "Run as fast as you can up and down, score goals and make goals pls...good luck tonight my friend."
Scholes also tagged Antony and added a kissing face emoji - emphasising his sarcastic response to Antony's request for "constructive criticism."
In the aftermath of his Wednesday interview, Antony arrived at Old Trafford for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Chelsea.
United have just ten wins from 21 games thus far this season, and sit on the verge of Champions League elimination, with a miraculous set of results required to see them progress to the last 16.
