In the last few of months they've been beaten by Swansea, Sunderland, Stoke and the like but Paul Scholes thinks Man United can reach the Champions League final.
The former midfield magician was speaking in Singapore earlier today, saying 'If they play like they did on Wednesday, I don't see why they can't reach the final.'
I must have watched a different match than he did because a better team than Olympiacos would have easily scored two or three against United on Wednesday and when watching them cling on to that slender aggregate advantage for the last 20 minutes I certainly never thought 'You know what? This is a team that could go all the way to the final.'
Granted there were probably some nerves and there's all this turning point talk but a defeat to Man City next week would probably bring the mood right back down.
Scholes did make the point that 'For some reason, the team's best performances have come in the Champions League.' 'It's been a difficult season so far, but getting to the final of the Champions League would make for a good ending.'
I can't even begin to agree with him but then again I thought Jason McAteer was off his rocker when he told me that Liverpool might win the league this season so what do I know!?
