You could have loved the Manchester United team he was part of or hated them but surely no one can be in disagreement Paul Scholes' choice of pre-match treat before every game was a complete disgrace.

The former England midfielder has revealed that he would eat not one but TWO Turkish Delights with a cup of tea the night before a match. Why would anyone inflict that upon themselves!?

Speaking to Peter Crouch on Amazon Prime's Back of the Net, Scholes detailed his eating habits in the buildup to a match:

Beans on toast, always, try to have it all the time. I always had a Turkish Delight as well, the night before the game.

It was a bit of a superstition, weird that. Two Turkish Delights and a cup of tea, but I’d always buy a packet of three and leave one. So I felt I was being good

Granted that sports people have some weird superstitions and of course, having a set pre-match eating routine is no strange thing but for the love of God, Paul, you could have chosen any chocolate bar in the world and you opted for a Turkish Delight!?

A bloody Topic would have even been better. There, I've said it.*
