Frame-By-Frame: The Paul Pogba 'Dive' Which Saw Mourinho Sent Off

For the second time in three Premier League games, José Mourinho was sent to the stands as his Mancester United side drew 1-1 with West Ham at Old Trafford - their fourth home draw on the bounce.

It was an incident involving Paul Pogba which drew Mourinho's ire; the world's most expensive player was booked by referee John Moss having been adjudged to have dived following an attempted challenge by West Ham's Mark Noble.

Mourinho booted a bottle onto the pitch and remonstrated with Moss, before promptly receiving his marching orders, while Pogba was clearly also aggrieved by the decision.

Here's a frame-by-frame breakdown of the incident:

Clearly, absolutely no contact is made on Pogba as he hits the deck, which would suggest he warranted a yellow for diving.

However, some football writers and, well, Man United fans, are adamant that Pogba was merely getting himself out of the way of Noble's flailing leg to avoid potentially serious damage to his £100m legs. They may have a point.

Henry Winter claimed that Pogba made that exact point to John Moss as they left the field for half-time.

It's perhaps not as cut-and-dry an incident as it first appears, but we'll leave you be the judge as to whether Pogba's tumble was worthy of a yellow card or Noble's wild-looking swing should have been a foul regardless of contact on the player.

Should be an interesting discussion between 'Chappers' and co. on MOTD2 tonight.
