Manchester United caused quite a stir at the end of the summer transfer window last week when they agreed a very expensive deal for AS Monaco youngster Anthony Martial.
As few people had regularly seen Martial play, all of the discussion surrounding the transfer was about the fee, and how Manchester United were taking a huge gamble while also heaping a lot of pressure on the 19 year old forward. Many pundits and journalists gave their view, but now a rather high-profile former Manchester United player has given a very positive account of United's new number nine.
Paul Pogba is still seen as the "one that got away" for the Old Trafford club by many football fans, but he thinks that Manchester United are on to a winner as he praised Martial ahead of France's friendly international with Serbia:
Paul Pogba: "I call Martial 'the young old man’ because he’s 19 and he’s already so mature for his age."

Pogba: “I already knew Anthony well, he has great ability and a huge amount of potential. He will bring a lot to the French team."

Pogba: "I’m very happy for Martial, he’s changed clubs now, he’s in the PL where he will train with great players and will keep improving.”

A glowing review from Pogba, who himself looks destined to leave Juventus sooner rather than later with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, and Real Madrid jostling for the best position to bring him to their club in the coming years.
Morgan Schneiderlin has also admitted that Martial looks impressive, although his main concern was the pressure that the media and public will be putting on him for instant success, so it will be interesting to see how Anthony Martial will be used when the Premier League season resumes.
