The Premier League trophy is undoubtedly the one glaring omission in Liverpool's trophy cabinet, and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that the club should put all of their eggs in one basket and focus solely on winning the league, despite being in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The former Arsenal footballer was speaking on Sky Sports and was adamant that Jurgen Klopp should pull his team out of Europe at the earliest convenience in order to give them a better chance of securing their first league title in nearly 29 years, so adamant in fact, that he said get out a combined 10 times in under a minute:

Get out of that. Get out of it. Get out. Make history. This club not won the league in 29 years, get out of it! Win the league. Win the league! Get out of it! Get out! Get out! These players can go down in history!

Get out of it. Get out. You're gonna win the league.

While Merson's rant will chime with some supporters feelings, you would hope that with the financial outlay at Jurgen Klopp's disposal that his side would be able to comfortably compete in at least two separate competitions this season.

Either way, tonight's crunch clash against Manchester City at the Etihad could go a long way to shaping Liverpool's priorities as they head into the second half of the season.
