When Paul Merson came out on Sky Sports during the week and said that he thought Arsenal would get whipped by Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday, I knew all was not right with the world.
When it comes to football predictions I live my life by one rule and one rule only; whatever Paul Merson says will happen, the opposite is true, and it turned out to be the case again as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Liverpool in a pulsating clash in London.
In the Sky Sports News studio, the former Arsenal man was incredibly dismissive of Emery's chances of getting anything from the game, comparing his team to a boxer with a dodgy chin:
If they don't lose by more than three goals next week, I'll be shocked.
They're not in the same class as this Liverpool team.
If Liverpool turn up and they fancy it, they will rip Arsenal to absolute shreds.
They're just waiting to get found out! They're like a boxer with a dodgy chin who hasn't been hit yet, as soon as he gets hit he's just going to spark.

Of course, Arsenal didn't fold, even when going behind to a James Milner strike and Unai Emery's side were full value for the draw.
Liverpool may feel slightly aggrieved however, after Sadio Mane's first half goal was chalked off by the linesman for offside. The Senegal forward tapped home after Roberto Firmino had lobbed the ball on to the post but had the goal ruled out despite replays showing he was behind the ball when Firmino took the strike on.
