Man City knocked Everton out of the League Cup during the week with Sergio Aguero scoring the decisive goal in a 4-3 aggregate win for his side.

John Stones was majorly at fault for the winning goal. Roberto Martinez knew it too. The centre-back was substituted just moments later with Seamus Coleman coming on as Everton attempted to regain the advantage in a game where at one stage they looked like having an unassailable lead.

Defending has been a major problem for Everton this season with Stones, seen as a future England star, often at fault.

On Soccer Saturday, as Everton's FA Cup tie with Carlisle was previewed, Paul Merson went on an entertaining rant about Stones and Roberto Martinez.

It's like Men In Black. Have you ever seen the film Men In Black?

This is what Martinez is like. You watch a game, they get beat. You sit there and think 'That was a joke. That was shocking.' Then he talks and he must press a button and when he finishes talking we all go 'It weren't that bad, was it?'

That's what it feels like Jeff.

You can watch Merson in full flow below.
