Watch: Paul Merson Makes A Hames Of All Of His FA Cup Predictions

We are quite fond of Paul Merson here at Balls HQ, with his beautifully entertaining rant about John Stones and Roberto Martinez last January one of the highlights from the Soccer Saturday year.

Unfortunately, in the last couple of weeks, he has dropped a couple of clangers. Last week, he gave West Ham some remarkably bad transfer advice:

I'd rather sell him [Payet] now, for £30 million and buy Martial for £20 million.

Fair to say that Martial would cost West Ham about three times that price.

While that error can be put down to bewildering ignorance, we have a bit more sympathy for Merse today, as he has been hoisted by the caprice of Cup Football.

Jeff Stelling asked Merse to pick three teams who he would consider as dark horses to win the FA Cup. You'll have a fair idea how this is going to play out, but we will leave it to this excellent bit of editing to accentuate just how badly things went for Merse:

Poor Merse. In case that wasn't clear, Everton lost at home to Leicester, Stoke lost at home to Wolves - thanks to a stunning free-kick by Ireland's Matt Doherty - and Bournemouth managed to lose to Milwall.
