There are four games left in Aston Villa's season and already they have been consigned to playing second tier football for the first time since 1987.
Many Villa fans would likely prefer if their side could abandon the remainder of the season and not have to endure the fixtures against Southampton, Watford, Newcastle and Arsenal.
Joleon Lescott would appear to be the only one who believes positives came come out of these games.
Speaking after Villa's loss to Man Utd on Saturday - the result which confirmed their drop to the Championship - Lescott said that with the club now in the full darkness of relegation rather than being merely in its shadow, a 'weight' had been lifted.
His comments were roundly criticised by Villa fans.
It's about results so regardless of how we played in patches today we are relegated. We need to find a way to get out of this run of defeats. Now it's confirmed maybe it's a weight off the shoulders and we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances.
At the opposite end of the scale in terms of supporter affection is Villa legend Paul McGrath. The centre-back played over 250 games for the club, winning Player of the Season in 1992/93.
On Twitter, McGrath described Lescott as both a 'disgrace' and ''crap'.
Lesscott came to villa for money and nothing more, he got what he wanted and laughed it off, you are slime bag son . Ur a disgrace !
