Jason McAteer appeared on the rather underrated Fantasy Football Club last night: the Sky Sports show which Soccer AM should be.
The former Irish international picked his all-time Irish XI, and in doing so, revealed a cracking story about Paul McGrath that he regrets went unnoticed on the day.
Once McGrath had removed Roberto Baggio from his pocket at the 1994 World Cup, he was approached by legendary Italian defender Franco Baresi, who asked him for his shirt, in a scene McAteer believed was similar to that famous image of Pele and Bobby Moore swapping shirts.
Baresi is one of the finest defenders in the history of the game, so it's a serious compliment to McGrath. Watch below:
Brilliant. Here's McAteer's XI in full:
McAteer was brilliant on Gary Kelly in particular, saying that he was criminally underrated, going on to claim he was a better right-back than Gary Neville. Who are we to disagree?
