Dundalk midfielder/viral sensational Patrick McEleney is one of the most talented players in the League of Ireland, or, according to his manager Stephen Kenny, the most talented player, not only at present, but for a long, long time.
There hasn't been anyone like Patrick, talent wise, in the league in the last 15 years.
Kenny uttered those words back at the start of the season, so he will likely have had a big smile on his face every time the Derry man dropped jaws with one of his sensational strikes, of which he has scored many, this year.
His goal against Drogheda was seen by millions on social media, as was his solo run against Pats earler in the year, so when he nonchalently dinked the keeper at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night, we realised that the man could genuinely run his own personal 'Goal Of The Season' competition.
So here it is.
GOAL A:
Away vs Sligo - March 4
A beautiful free-kick with some incredible curve showing that he's a master of the set-piece as well.
GOAL B:
Home vs Limerick - March 10
A magnificent curling strike from long range.
GOAL C:
Home vs St. Pats - March 18
A phenomenal solo goal with a downright disrespectful finish.
GOAL D:
Home vs Drogheda - June 16
Just superb. Nothing else to say.
GOAL E:
Home vs Finn Harps - June 23
He doesn't seem to like routine finishes, the dink is his signature.
GOAL F:
Away vs Bray Wanderers - June 30
Yep. The dink is definitely his signature, even from outside the box. A shame that this goal may soon not exist due to Bray's misfortunes.
For us, it has to be GOAL D against Drogheda, it was between that and GOAL C against Pats, but the long-range dink after all the work he did was just incredible. Get in touch and let us know what your pick is.
We'll keep this post updated as the season progresses, because at the rate he's going there could be three or four more goals to add to this. Also, if you can find footage of a cracker we missed, please get in touch and we'll include it.
Patrick McEleney is on fire.
