Parma FC players marked the club's centenary on Monday night by presenting their Fiorentina opposite numbers with vacuum cleaners before kick-off.
If the club were so keen to mark 100 years with the proud presentation of a high-quality domestic appliance, then surely Parma must be the centre of the Italian vacuum cleaner industry? Are the Crociati (Crusaders) looking to change their nickname to the Aspirapolveri? Nah, they're just sponsored by German manufacturer Vorwerk, so the Fiorentina players were forced to adopt their best present faces and think of a way to fit their new Voletto VR100s into their kit bags. At least they were robot cleaners and not the conventional, human-operated ones that us mere mortals are used to.
As recent Twitter activity suggests, we'll have at least two eager recipients should Italy pull the same stunt at the Aviva on March 8.
