Nearly a million people tuned in to watch RTÉ's Vatican coverage last night but that was dwarfed by the figures for Ireland's loss to Croatia in the European Championships last summer. Just over 2 million people watched that game.

Two obvious conclusions from this: sport is the new religion and Trap should've been made pope.
