Finn Harps destroyed Cabinteely 7-1 in their final game of the First Division regular season on Saturday night. The Donegal side had already secured second place in the table and a spot in the promotion/relegation playoffs going into the game.
The game saw Paddy McCourt make his first start for the club since July. It has been an injury-plagued season for the Derry man.
The 34-year-old played just 51 minutes but exerted a major influence on the match. In the first half, Finn Harps scored three goals in the space of six minutes. McCourt had a hand in them all, including scoring the second himself.
That goal featured some trademark McCourt magic as the picked up the ball just outside the box on the left wing and danced past a couple of Cabinteely defenders before firing home.
Last night was one of the former Celtic player's final games. He will retire at the end of the season and take up a role as head of Derry City's Youth Academy.
