Paddy Kenny seems like the kind of lad you could spend a night down in the pub with.
The former Republic of Ireland international is well known for being Neil Warnock's best bud and an decent lower level goalkeeper, but above all else he just generally seems like a normal kind of guy, who doesn't really take himself too seriously.
As a result of this he's usually very popular wherever he goes and he's certainly revered himself to fans of his new club, Bury.
After only 13 days into his seven week contract the experienced keeper suffered a calf injury which would rule him out of making a single appearance with the League One side.
And whilst most players would choose to sit back, feel their ass grow and watch the cash come in, Kenny has generously decided to cancel his contract as he doesn't want to take seven weeks wages for doing nothing.
Manager Dave Flitcroft was full of admiration for the former QPR and Leeds stopper.
Paddy only had a seven week contract, we weren’t expecting it, but Paddy came to see us and said that he loves the Club, he loves the fact we gave him an opportunity, but he doesn’t feel like he is going to earn his money now he is injured.
Quite incredibly he has decided he wants to cancel the contract. Incredibly he had guaranteed money there, but he has said he can’t take money off the football club, which is quite a unique circumstance.
A great gesture from a great lad and we certainly hope Kenny enjoys his time off and makes a speedy recovery.
