As a player, Owen Hargreaves was the definition of a safe midfielder. He'd win the ball, lay it off and get minimal praise for doing it. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, he did it well and teammates and fans were glad he did. However when you're a pundit, you should probably extend your reach outside the realm of 'safe'.

Generally fans know quite a bit about football, so when Hargreaves was asked to pick some players that fans should keep an eye on this season, he probably should have been a bit more original than this.

So that's Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Yaya Toure and Mesut Ozil. That's the best part of £150 million worth of players. Not exactly the insider information that we were looking for.
