One Sweet Swing Of His Right Boot and Shane Long Is Back In the Irish Squad

After Shane Long seemingly made a remarkable recovery from injury, he started in West Brom's two nil defeat of Southampton. Long was on hand to provide what many feel was the cross of the season for Peter Odemwingie to nod home.

Long has been called into the Ireland squad for the upcoming friendly with Greece. Andy Keogh, Conor Clifford, Shane Duffy and Damien Delaney are all on standby. When the news was broken last week of Long's injury, plenty of eyebrows were raised as there didn't seem to be any sign of the injury prior to the announcement.

The Tipperary man has had a fine start to the season with West Brom and will be keen to put his recent disappointments at international level behind him if given the chance next Wednesday. I think it's safe to say that the whole country are willing him to be given a starting role.
