We don't really do public service here on Balls.ie, but yesterday, we published a story of genuine value - retired footballer Andy Cole spoke about the roadblocks that stop retired black footballers from becoming managers. Cole spoke about the need for a Rooney Rule in football. It's not groundbreaking news in itself, but this is the kind of discussion that needs to be happening in football and we're pleased if it makes one or two people think.

Our limited resources unfortunately mean that we must spend most of our time combing the internet for the most hopelessly banal sports news in order to keep our traffic ticking over. And this morning, I think I may have extracted the most pointless story from cesspit of banality. Kenny Dalglish and new recruit Andy Carroll attended a Boyzone gig last night in Liverpool.
